HGCBT's Fairy Tales on Stage: "So beautiful, and so much fun!"

What a show! The first act was so fun and energetic! A great pace, with lots of fun dancing, choreography, and familiar music. A great mix of different genres and age groups, with a constant barrage of smiles. Those tappers brought down the house!

Then Act II was phenomenal. So lush and polished!  Schools so rarely do Giselle; it’s so complicated, and requires such precision, such synchronization and intense acting. But these 11 kids proved it can be done by this age group, impacting the audience as well as a larger and older company. So impressive. And wow, the dancing! Albrecht (Sava Brizhik) and Giselle (Kate Borman) were brilliant! You don’t see that level of ability and mature partnering from kids their age. Myrtha (Gabriella Stradley) was fierce and commanding, and her two soloists (Elizabeth Tchorni and Kendal Zimmerman) exuded the sadness and bitterness of their characters to perfection, leading a very young but extremely focused and talented corp.

What a talented and well-trained cast. So beautiful, and so much fun! Congrats to the entire cast, as well as the choreographers, the designers, and everyone else involved. I hope everyone is very proud of what they collectively produced!

​A Special Thank You To Those Who Are Departing

HGCBT would like to congratulate and thank three of our long-time dancers who are graduating from Poolesville High School this spring. Sava Brizhik, Elizabeth Tchorni and Kendall Zimmerman have been students at Essence Studios and performers for HGCBT for years, always sharing their grace, dedication, professionalism and leadership with their fellow dancers. They proved to be wonderful role models for the younger dancers in the program, who always saw wonderful examples of how to cooperate, listen, show patience, learn and be accepting of everyone around them. They have been essential in growing the next wave of dancers and leaders at Essence and HGCBT. We will forever be grateful! ​
